Authorities say multiple people were killed and a Sandy police officer was seriously injured after being shot, following a domestic violence-related shooting in Sandy, Oregon, on Sunday evening.

Officers with the Sandy Police Department and Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded just before 4 p.m. to reports of a domestic disturbance and gunfire near Ross Avenue and Evans Street.

Residents in the area were urged to shelter in place as law enforcement searched for the suspect. Authorities later located the suspect inside a nearby home and took them into custody shortly before 8 p.m.

Police say there is no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains active as detectives work to determine exactly what happened.

Sandy Police Chief Patrick Huskey called the incident a traumatic event for both the community and the department, asking people to keep the victims, the injured officer, their families, and first responders in their thoughts.

Timothy Johnson, a wanted fugitive in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma hid in the storage area underneath a bed. Once law enforcement officers discovered him, he drew on them and fired.

The police officers returned fire and neutralized Johnson. Incident occurred November 15th, 2022.
