Program: With summer approaching many a people are planning a trip to an amusement park. But when you are standing in line for the Thunderbolt at Kennywood, riding Harry Potter at Universal or strolling a boardwalk on the shore, it can be hard to believe that you are enjoying an industry with roots that stretch back over 500 years. Join Jim Futrell, historian for the National Amusement Park Historical Association, as he takes you on a journey through time to look at the fascinating history of the amusement park industry. From its simple origins in Renaissance Europe to today's technologically advanced multi-billion dollar global industry, Jim will explore the roller coaster history of a business that has brought joy to billions.
