⚓️ Did you know? October 27 is Navy Day! 🇺🇸
While the U.S. Navy Birthday on October 13 marks the official founding of the Navy, October 27 is Navy Day — an observance rooted in history and celebrated by loyal supporters year after year.
Navy Day was established in 1922 to recognize the achievements and sacrifices of the men and women serving in the U.S. Navy. Though it was once widely observed, October 27 is no longer officially recognized at Navy headquarters as focus shifted to the officially designated Navy Birthday on October 13. Despite this, the day continues to be embraced by citizens, veterans, and naval enthusiasts who honor Sailors for their courage, dedication, and service to our nation.
October 27 highlights the importance of the Navy in defending our country, supporting global missions, and upholding the proud legacy of naval service. For decades, Americans have used this day to thank Sailors, remember historic victories, and celebrate the ongoing contributions of the Navy.
Take a moment this October 27 to reflect on the Navy’s history and the brave men and women who continue to serve at sea. 💙
