If you meet a man at the finish line, what real value would he see in your contribution to his journey?

That’s why I’ll never understand how some men can walk away from the woman who stood beside them when they had very little, encouraged them when they doubted themselves, and helped them become a better version of themselves. Instead, they choose someone who wasn’t there during the struggle, the sacrifices, the setbacks, or the growth.

There’s something special about the person who believed in you before the success, before the money, before the accomplishments. Loyalty during the building phase should mean something. The people who help you become who you are deserve to be valued just as much as the person standing beside you when you’ve already arrived.

Yes, God doesn’t make mistakes in who He brings into your life or the timing in which they arrive. But the enemy (Devil) also knows your heart, your desires, and your weaknesses.

You can recognize when someone is of God because that person helps you grow, elevate, and flourish. They believe in you, support you, and genuinely cheer for your success.

You can also recognize when someone is not aligned with God by the fruit of what shifts in your life after they arrive.

You may find yourself slipping back into old habits, feeling unmotivated, no longer pursuing your goals, and surrounded by distractions. You may notice changes in your environment, frequenting bars or lounges, engaging in unhealthy behaviors, connecting with people you normally wouldn’t, spending time on social media liking/loving men/women photos/videos, or being pulled into a lifestyle that takes you away from structure, peace, and purpose.

You may even find yourself pulling away from the man or woman God placed in your life as the person to see you live out what God created you to do, your covering, and the person that prays for you.

Take a moment to look inward. Discern whether this connection is drawing you closer to God and your dreams or pulling you away from your purpose. Not everything that looks good is good for you, the enemy often packages distraction in attractive forms.

Be careful and intentional about who you allow into your life. The person that you spend the most time with is either going to make you or break you.
