Hello new puppy parents — let’s talk about house-training during cold weather, which is a special kind of emotional adventure. Nothing says “I love my dog” quite like standing outside at 6 a.m., freezing your eyebrows off, whisper-begging a 10-pound fur potato to please, for the love of all that is holy, p*e somewhere that isn’t the rug.
First: keep those potty trips short. This isn’t a scenic winter stroll; it’s a tactical mission.
Second: bring treats so you can immediately praise them, like the world’s proudest sports parent watching a very confused athlete.
Third: pick one potty spot. Consistency is key. Your puppy is not a real estate agent — they do NOT need options.
Fourth: stick to a simple schedule. Puppies love routines almost as much as they love chewing literally anything that isn’t a chew toy.
House-training in the cold isn’t for the faint of heart — it’s for heroes. Heroes with numb fingers, questionable footwear choices and an unwavering belief that this tiny creature will someday stop p*eing indoors. Hang in there. You and your frostbitten dignity will get through this.
