Plainfield Public Library

Fifty-eight years ago, the library celebrated the grand opening of its new, modern building. A dedication ceremony took place on April 21, 1968, and activities were planned for an entire month. Tomorrow, June 13, the library will be celebrating a new chapter with the grand reopening of the same building - with 21st century improvements! Plainfield’s Caesar is the city’s first identifiable African American resident. He was a freed slave who served in the American Revolution as a teamster, driving a supply wagon for troops stationed at the Blue Hills Fort and Camp.
