Is your story good? Or is it exceptional?

This is the type of question Ed Catmull, one of the founders of Pixar, asks in his book titled Creativity, Inc. The book is part memoir telling the stories behind one of the most creative companies of our time. But the book is also part challenge to become exceptional.

As violent words slammed against her and calloused hands clenched her arm, panic began to wash over her. Tears crept to the surface and fear engulfed her.

We’re all messed up. Yes, I know, that’s not a very positive statement to make. Some might suspect I’m a pessimist with a glass-half-empty perspective on life. I would argue that I’m a realist with a biblical worldview.

Take a deep breath and read this next part very slowly: Your brokenness should encourage you.

Every church wants it. It’s the vibrancy that comes from the next generation. That’s why churches higher youth ministers. They want to see the next generation participating in the church. The problem is not knowing how to get them involved and invested.
