Diabetes is a disease caused by a lack of insulin, the hormone that regulates how sugar is absorbed and used by the cells within the body. It is most often seen in dogs between the ages of 5 and 7, with female dogs being more susceptible than males. Every dog is unique, but keeping an eye out for irregularities in your dog’s behavior is key to determining if your dog may be at risk. Watch out for extreme thirst, frequent urination, notable exhaustion, and lower than normal activity, and obesity. If you have noticed any of these signs in your pup, call us at (954) 933-1935 right away to schedule a thorough examination so we can help you maintain and improve your dog’s health!

It’s true! The Beatles’ song ‘A Day in the Life” features a frequency towards the end that only dogs can hear. This was confirmed in a 2013 interview with Paul McCartney! The next time you’re listening to the song, see how your dog reacts and let us know in the comments if they are a music fan. Stay current with your dogs' healthcare needs and schedule their appointment by calling (954) 933-1935.

To prevent your pup from contracting parvo, it is essential to get them vaccinated. A puppy’s first set of vaccinations happen at 6 weeks old with another two at 9 and 12 weeks. When your dog is brought into our clinic, they will be assessed by us and we will advise you on all follow-up dates. Always look for clinical signs of parvo in your dog, and if you notice symptoms, contact us at (954) 933-1935 to book an appointment for diagnosis. Don’t leave it until its too late!

Names that are short and easy to recognize tend to work best. Pets respond more quickly to one- or two-syllable names with clear sounds, especially when they don’t resemble common commands. Most importantly, choose something you’ll love saying every day.

To your cat… it’s actually a compliment! Cats groom the ones they trust. It can also be a way to bond, mark you with their scent, or just show a little love (in their own… chaotic way).

If it ever becomes excessive or obsessive, it could be a sign of stress or something medical, so keep an eye on it.
