“Latin Music for Winds” Adirondack Wind Ensemble concert
Sunday, October 5, 2pm, E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall, Plattsburgh

$15 general admission at the door, all students free

Pre-concert “Meet-the-Conductor” session with Daniel Gordon at 1pm in Hawkins

This year’s program, entitled “Latin Music for Winds,” features music from several Latin regions around the world:
Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos’ Chôros No. 3 (South America), Joaquín Rodrigo’s Adagio for Wind Orchestra (Spain), an orchestration of Louis Moreau Gottschalk’s Souvenir de Porto Rico, and H. Owen Reed’s La Fiesta Mexicana. A pre-concert “meet-the-conductor” session will take place with Daniel Gordon at 1pm in Hawkins.

AWE is a professional musical ensemble of wind and percussion instruments comprised of music educators and other outstanding community musicians from around the North Country. Its performers represent every public school district in Clinton County as well as several communities beyond. They gather in AWE to share in the joy of making music. AWE is dedicated to providing quality concert performances by members of this community for this community.

This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts; the SUNY Plattsburgh Student Association and the Music Department; the SUNY Plattsburgh College Auxiliary Services and Alumni Association; Casella Waste Systems; and Stewart’s Shops.
