A little while ago, there was a situation involving some sales of T-Shirts that had my name on them.

Before realizing it was in fact a scam, I had suggested that it was another “Dave Russell” that was selling them. (He is an accomplished guitar player with many albums and credits to his name).

Well it actually was a scam on the t shirt side but I started digging and it has come to my attention that stuff that I had released was being posted under his name on digital media such as Spotify. He was not getting the revenue but people searching for me would be directed to his accounts thus boosting his sales, (people purchased other songs by Dave Russell) and what not. It also caused confusion on some pretty major reporting sites. Even my first releases where associated under his name/pages.

This was not anything new as I had filed paperwork a couple years ago with the “Reporting Database” , (Rovi), that these sites used to pull info from, to separate our songs. That was a lot of back and forth and in the meantime, Spotify and others were growing larger so they themselves started policing/ monitoring their databases.
So with that said, I proceeded to pull the releases I have had in the past from Digital Distribution.

I am currently Remastering them and they all will be on a schedule of release within the coming months and the beginning of next year.

This allows me to totally separate my material from the other “Dave Russell” artists along with bringing songs that were at the top of my “Streamed Songs” list a revival. Songs will be released as singles so that we can monitor each one to make sure it gets assigned/ pushed on its own.

Now, Texas is and always has been its own animal as far as “Radio” goes. They have their own Charts, their own associations and for the most part, will not push or promote artists outside of Texas. They have fantastic venues, Great Radio stations and many artists that you hear on National Radio, got their start by supporting themselves/touring and promoting exclusively in TX, (Brantley Gilbert is a great example).

With that said, I will be releasing and pushing songs in multiple ways. To digital streaming, Texas Radio, along with pushes to other avenues such as licensing and such.

So, hopefully the first of the tunes will released next week!!
