Sensitivity has often been a point of confusion for me. Men are often laughed at by their peers for being sensitive (especially as young boys and teens), and simultaneously are being asked to be more sensitive in relationship.
I struggled with this growing up as a young man who was very sensitive to other peoples needs.
Being sensitive doesn’t mean being fragile. It means having awareness of feelings within yourself and others.
For me, having awareness of others comes easy. Having awareness of myself is oddly difficult. You’d think it would be simple to understand what subtle nuances are happening within your own being but for some it takes time and practice.
My goal is to pay as close attention to myself as I do to others. To become sensitive to my own body and mind connection. Be more in tune with my nervous system and what is true in my body.
