Determine your risk tolerance!

Your risk tolerance is the amount of money you can afford to lose on an investment.

For instance, if your rent is due and you don’t have the money to pay it, you have a very low-risk tolerance.

Your time horizon is usually the determining factor when it comes to risk tolerance.

Essentially, it is your investment timeline — or the length of time you need to hang onto an asset before you sell it. The shorter the time horizon is, the less risk tolerance there is.

You gotta spend money to make money — but you also gotta know where to spend it.
