Pomeroy Gun Club wound down their Winter League season with an Awards Day, Pot luck, Barbeque, and annual business meeting at the Pataha range on Sunday March 29th. Overcast but reasonably pleasant weather made it a nice day for shooting and playing games.
While the youth shooters played games on one Trap the adults shot 50 singles Targets on the other Field. The A class competition ended with Brodie Magill breaking 49 of the 50 targets and Larry Bunch took the B class also with a 49. Mitch McGreevy won C class with a score of 45 and Lee Blachly captured D class with a 46.
After lunch of Barbecued Hamburgers, Hot dogs and Pot Luck dishes galore the Club had their annual awards at their business meeting. The awards were for the Club competition over the 10 week season. For the High All Around in the youth division the 12 year old and under winner was Blake Warren, in the Sub Junior class Luke Collier was Champion. Hagen Taylor took Junior and Heather Hastings was the Lady Champ.
In Handicap shooting Shaun Bingman took the 12 year old and under Trophy, Tyler Taylor took Sub Junior honors, and Byron Collier topped the Junior Class. 16 yard Champion for the 12 and under group was Riley Gagnon and Colton Davis was Sub Jr. Champ. Monte Richie took the Hardware for the older Junior group.
In adult 16 yd. shooting Buck Geiger won A class, B class went Lee Koller, Terry John captured C class and Dan Chapman took D class honors. The Lady Champion was Hannah Stolfus. Hannah shot off at the recent Camas Prairie shoot in Walla Walla for the Lady All Star team but failed to make the team after shooting 50 targets. Hannah had two perfect 25s during the 10 week competition which was tops by Pomeroy Ladies. Clark Capwell was the Veteran winner in the Adult 16 yd. competition. Pomeroy Gun Club wishes to thank the East Washingtonian for allowing us the space to report our Season and it has been my pleasure as reporter to write the Articles weekly for the publication once produced by my Father.
On another note, we will not be hosting a Baseball team from the NAIA World Series. New management at CCI/Speer had decided not to sponsor this year with Dr. Eggleston so they are going to go a different direction entertaining the team.

Pomeroy Gun Club Week 10 Final Week
During the tenth and final week of the 2026 Camas Prairie Competition the Pomeroy Gun Club enjoyed fairly decent weather but scores were not what they hoped for. Adults ended up in 11th place in the 26 Club field and the Youth shooters ended up tied for 5th place with Hauser Lake Gun in the Junior Competition. The Pomeroy Junior Club moved up a couple of spots in the final three weeks.
In Week 10 competition the 12 year old and younger kids were led in 16 yd. shooting by the 20X25 score shot by Shaun Bingman, Riley Gagnon shot a 19 and Blake Warren was another target back with an 18. In the younger shooters Handicap the Trio of Gagnon, Bingman and Warren all posted scores of 17 to lead the field.
In Sub Junior shooting Luke Collier was the top 16 yd. shooter with a score of 22. Heather Hastings had a score of 20 and Colton Davis and Dylan Taylor shot scores of 19. In Sub Junior Handicap Luke Collier rose to the Top with a perfect 25, Colton Davis and Conrad Nelson had scores of 20.
In the older Junior division Byron Collier was the top 16 yd. shooter with a score of 22. Isaac C**n shot a 19. In junior Handicap Collier put up another score of 22 and Hagen Taylor shot a 21.
The Youth battled some rain and a breeze on Saturday but on Sunday the Sun came out with only a slight East wind for the Adult Competition. In 16 yd. shooting Ollie Severs, Clark Capwell and Lee Koller all shot perfect 25s. Severs posted his sixth perfecto in the 10 weeks and Capwell put up his third. Koller had two over the 10 weeks. Severs would have been in a shoot off with six perfect scores for the All Star team at the Camas Prairie Handicap in Walla Walla had it not been for one of his scores being shot ahead and it could only be counted for Pomeroy Gun Club Trophies and could not be submitted as a League score. Ollie would not have been able to shoot off anyway since he will be competing in Texas for the LCSC Trap team. Shooting 24s for the week were Buck Geiger, Larry Bunch, Jim Adams, Glenn Barber, Ray Endicott, and Matt Fitzgerald. In adult Handicap Brodie Magill shot a perfect 25 to lead the field. Matt Fitzgerald had a 24 while Lee Koller, Larry Bunch, Ray Endicott, Sean Beale, Beau Blachly and Troy Steele all missed two targets for scores of 23.
Wayne Tetrick had the top score in the Continental competition with a perfect score of 25. Travis Ledgerwood and Clark Capwell posted 24s and Ollie Severs, Brian Bingman and Steve Brown had 23s. In Club Doubles Severs topped the field with a 45X50 score, Brian Bingman had a 44 and Jim Adams posted a 43.
Starting Thursday the 19th the Camas Prairie Handicap will start at the Walla Walla Gun Club with a warm up 100 target Handicap. On Friday the 20th there will be a full slate with 100 16 yd. targets, 100 Handicap, and 50 pairs of Doubles. On Saturday there will be 50 pair of Championship Doubles, 100 16 yd. Targets of the 200 Championship will be shot and will be followed by the 100 Championship Handicap Targets.
