GCL Rays got off to a great start this week with an impressive 9-1 victory over the Red Sox this afternoon at Charlotte Sports Park Field # 5...

The GCL Rays had their best week of the season, winning four of their six games this week.

Here are the GCL South Division Standings...
1) GCL Twins (11-7)
2) GCL Red Sox (10-8)
3) GCL Orioles (8-10)
4) GCL RAYS (7-11)

The Rays will host the Twins Tuesday & Thursday at NOON while traveling to Fort Myers Monday & Wednesday for NOON games against the Twins. They will play at Sarasota Friday at NOON to face the Orioles then host the Orioles Saturday at 10 a.m.

I may have made history today as Official Scorer for the Tampa Bay Rays' Gulf Coast League team.
The GCL is one of two leagues this summer "experimenting" with the rule where extra innings start with a runner at second base.
According to the stats folks in New York my game today was the first to go into extra innings.
The visiting Red Sox broke a scoreless tie and held on for a 1-0 win over the Rays on Field 5 at Charlotte Sports Park. Tough way to lose a game!

GCL Rays were rained out vs the Red Sox at Fort Myers this afternoon, scoreless game in bottom of 4th inning.

We will finish that 9 inning game, take a 30-minute break, then play a 7 inning game.

Game time is 11 a.m. on Field # 5....

GCL Rays' 2017 Season Opener:
The Red Sox jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and held on for a 3-2 win on a HOT Monday afternoon in the stadium at Charlotte Sports Park.
