Victorian Jewelry spans a period of about 60 years from 1837-1901, which was when Queen Victoria was the ruler of England. Jewelry from this era is typically broken down into three periods, Early, Mid-Victorian and Late Victorian.

The first NCAA men's basketball tournament was held in 1939 and included just eight teams. The sport's inventor Dr. James Naismith was in attendance for the final game. This first tournament put the NCAA in the red and would not create a profit until the following year.
