Don't overlook hub material and size.

Over the years I've found both magnesium and plastic hubs can be useful, depending on what you're trying to achieve.

Magnesium hubs generally keep the tire more supported and stable. They can make a car feel more precise and consistent, especially when you're looking for maximum performance and responsiveness.

Plastic hubs tend to allow the tire to work a little more. In some situations that extra flex can help generate bite and make a car easier to drive.

Hub diameter plays a role too. Larger hubs reduce tire flex while smaller hubs allow the tire to move around more and can sometimes help a car find grip.

As with most tuning changes, there is no magic answer. The track, chassis, tire compound, and driving style all play a part.

Don't be afraid to experiment. A simple hub change can sometimes make a bigger difference than people expect.
