Gary Hollands

After further conversations with my family, I have decided not to run for re-election due to health reasons and family obligations. In 2022, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and although I am in good health, I need to focus on my ongoing health needs.

I deeply appreciate all the support and encouragement I have received during my time on the board. It has been an honor to serve our students and help them succeed on their academic journey.

I am confident that Portland Public Schools is in great hands with our new superintendent, Dr. Kimberly Armstrong, and her vision for the district. I will be supporting Virginia Laforde for Zone 5 and Herman Greene for Zone 4, knowing they will continue the important work ahead.
