"My name is I am a chef here in Portland and this is my love letter to the service industry in hopes to show the true connection between food and music. As far back as I can remember there’s always been a connection between the two. Anytime there was a family gathering rather it be a cookout or holiday dinner, there was music. It connects people in beautiful ways. I remember growing up and every Sunday like in most black households that’s cleaning day and that means Mom is blasting her type of music and no, she is not taking requests. That was my introduction to house music. Although it wasn’t until I started working in a kitchen as a dishwasher when I chose a random house playlist. Listening while working in my corner, I rediscovered this music and my love for it. Fast forward, I moved to Portland to pursue my cooking career. That was when I found all the spaces that play this type of music and the community you find within them. The goal and vision of this pop-up is to truly connect these two communities and show why they belong together, side by side making art and uniting us as one."
