POSITION FILLED! Part Time Event & Operations Coordinator for SMILE

SMILE is looking for a part time Event & Operations Coordinator to assist the Director of Operations.

SMILE (Sellwood-Moreland Improvement League) is the neighborhood association for the Sellwood and Westmoreland neighborhoods. SMILE, a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit and Portland’s oldest neighborhood association manages two rental venues — the SMILE Station community center (SE13th/Tenino), and the historic Oaks Pioneer Church (SE Spokane/Grand). These busy facilities are rented for weddings, receptions, memorials, business meetings, community events and more, and are managed by paid staff.
The Event & Operations Coordinator will assist the Director of Operations with day-to-day operations of the two venues. Responsibilities include customer care by email, phone and in person, facilities oversight and event setup, event and tour scheduling, The successful candidate will have a strong customer care background, up-to-date administrative and technical skills, quick thinking and problem solving skills, and the ability to work flexible hours. Can work remote, in office or combination.

Hours:
30-40 hours per month
Flexible schedule - Weekdays and rotating some weekends on call
Some busier weeks/months covering vacations/seasonal fluctuations

Details/Qualifications:
Flexible schedule
Problem solver with can-do attitude
Must have good customer service skills on phone and in person
Professional writing skills
Comfortable learning new booking software
Can work remote, in office or combination of with regular in person check-ins
Must be able to lift 35lbs
Some light cleaning responsibilities
Live within reasonable commutable distance to venues
Provide back up during Director vacations/absences
Occasional rotating flexible scheduled weekends on call
Background in the hospitality industry desirable
Some social media skills a +

Rate:
$25 per hour
On call stipend + hourly rate when called/needed
