Spring is here, and I seem to get more motivated to run in Spring. Portland is full of woodsy trails right in the city and I am very lucky to have access to these. Charlie the dog comes with me and it's her favorite. Running is HARD for me....it always has been. Sprinting I'm good but distance, I usually spend it thinking about when it will finally be over. This is kinda why I do it though. Its a practice of staying present in each step and accepting and moving through an "uncomfortable situation" with peace. I love thinking about how it is good for my heart and lungs, my endurance, and that it is something I have to strive for. I let myself do "walk runs" which just means I walk when I really need to and don't feel bad about it. This last run I came to a full stop to check out this beautiful flower. Everything is blooming right now and it was worth the pause. The interesting thing is, is that I am noticing I am able to run a little longer each time I go. Walk a little less. What has worked for me is giving myself the space, not being too regimented (which I can easily fall into with myself. It's not nice) and stopping every now and then to notice the flowers. Also who cares? Nobody but me- I'll walk run if I wanna 😁
