For our next installment of Staff Pick Showcase, Derek has decided on the cult classic “Pacific Ocean Blue” by Dennis Wilson. Here’s what he has to say about it.

“Former Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson recorded this masterpiece, his solo debut, as well as a never completed follow-up, in the mid-seventies. It received mixed reviews in its time, but about three decades later it was re-released and its genius was recognized. I listen to it every time I drive to the coast. It’s the perfect summer soundtrack, with a mix of sweeping power ballads and funky, melodic grooves. It’s so cool.”
