Hey folks! Here is my microvillage post for the week. My favorite non-profit working on solutions to houselessness, WeShine PDX, is working diligently to build their first set of microhomes in the parking lot of Parkrose Community United Church of Christ. The board has formed a wonderful relationship with the congregation and leaders there and all is moving along.

They are doing a GoFundMe to raise money and one of their friends has offered a match – dollar for dollar up to $5000, between now and Thursday, February 24, 9 PM.

They expect to qualify soon for county money, but it’s a slow-moving process and may still be a few months. In the meantime, they have a site to prep, pods and other structures to construct, builders to build, and warehouse to build them in, and prospective guests eager to get shelter. They are set and ready to go!

These funds will give them a running start through the purchase of building materials and pod amenities and bring 10-12 unhoused Portlanders closer to having safe and supportive shelter.

Please help them meet this match. You can do it one of three ways:
