The Nay-sayer’s Ball

Come one, come all,
To the Nay-sayer’s ball,
Where everything’s wrong in the world.
Where insults are said,
With the nod of a head,
And many an unspoken word.
Got nothing to wear?
Try on some despair,
Or, perhaps a facade of gloom.
For it’s only one night, so prepare to take flight,
Amidst the factual stares in the room.
You’ll twirl around, in your judgemental gown,
Neath the not-so-forgiving chandelier.
Sip the wine of distortion, betrayal and misfortune,
Fill your glass to the top, while you’re here.
Mind your own business, lest you be the witness,
Of a far less redeemable sight.
And dance as you may, nevermind what they say,
At the nay-sayer’s ball tonight.

The ballad of Pingbat and Nari
True or make-believe, would be your own guess.
Shadows and light play many tricks on the eyes.
Now, in the early hours of dawn, laced with silvery dew,
Heard over the forest’s soft orchestra of crickets,
Do you believe?
A dainty figure emerges, porcelain, by moonlight,
Black hair, kissed, deep blue by the fading night
Emerald eyes of lore, gazing lazily about, searching
Was she real?
Transparent wings, soft as a dragonfly’s lullabye
Let go of your harsh beliefs that fairies are not real
Reader… they certainly are

Nari, she was called…

Cast elegantly over the lake’s rippled surface,
The moon, if you please!
Delicately speckled with fading stars, her accomplice, the sky
The song of the morning’s arrival,
Carefully orchestrated by none other than several sleepy turtle doves,
And one, single tiny claw-winded, pointy-eared bat.
Vision uncertain, his clumsy entrance already a daunting adoration.
A series of loud “pings” heard as he becomes “Ahem!” acquainted with each tree trunk.
The blue-eyed Pingbat as he is proclaimed.

The dawn-laden clearing is where their eyes first met, peering, however fixated,
Nari the fairy and blue-eyed Pingbat.
Her cheeks a soft crimson in morning’s first rays of sun
A bat’s perspective of a timid gaze, charmed by sparkling laughter.
And then, as both hearts fluttered, first separate, then together, they were one…

Sakura Rose

Beneath the stars and soft-lit moon
In a meadow by the sea
Where in the distance, the shadows loom
She dances here with me
The waves lap gently at the shore
And the gulls sleep, tucked away
The raven sky sings a lullaby
Awaiting the light of day
Her eyes reflect a candle’s flame
They sparkle as it glows
Giving a subtle short-lived fame
In the eyes of Sakura Rose
Her skin, such a brilliant hue of light
Her hands I hold all the while
Her hair, how it wisps in dusk’s silvery night
Melting my heart with her smile
Round and round, we whirl about
Our laughter, how it echoes
She dances on, until the dawn
My beautiful Sakura Rose
