Dr. Taryn Pestalozzi has earned her board certification in Clinical Nutrition (DACVIM (Nutrition)), and Dr. Courtney Gallant has earned her board certification in Veterinary Surgery (DACVS (SA)).

Becoming a board-certified veterinary specialist requires years of advanced training beyond veterinary school, including completion of one or more rigorous internships (often including specialty internships), a multi-year residency program, and passing comprehensive specialty board examinations.

What does this mean for your pet? It means access to highly specialized, advanced care—from expert nutritional management to complex surgical procedures—all delivered with the highest level of expertise.

This handsome boy came to Sunstone Veterinary Specialists for TPLO surgery and handled it like a total pro. When it was time to recover, he was feeling extra sleepy—so his nurse hooked him up with a cozy little sleep mask for some top-tier relaxation 😴

Safe to say he’s the cutest sleep mask–wearing dog we’ve seen all day 🐾

About 10 months ago, Eggo came to Sunstone Veterinary Specialists to see Dr. Taryn Pestalozzi for a comprehensive veterinary nutrition consultation. Eggo was managing several medical conditions, and his family wanted to incorporate expert-guided nutrition as part of his overall treatment plan.

At the time, Eggo was also carrying extra weight — something that can impact dogs of any breed or size. Excess weight can complicate existing medical conditions, increase risk for conditions like joint disease and heart disease, shorten lifespan, and decrease quality of life.
