AILA - Take Action: Congress Must Grant Permanent Protection to Dreamers and People Who Are Undocumented Now! Defending DACA is about both delivering for our Dreamers and protecting our economy. More than 340,000 essential workers are DACA recipients, including healthcare workers and teachers. Nearly $10 billion in tax contributions would be lost if the program were terminated. The Working for Immigrant Safety and Empowerment (WISE) Act is a comprehensive bill, recently introduced by , that extends critical immigration benefits to immigrant survivors of violence. The aims to safeguard and improve existing protections for immigrant survivors in order to help them achieve safety and justice.

Among other advances, the WISE Act reduces the multi-year backlog by lifting the U Visa cap making the program more accessible, prevents detention and deportation of with pending immigration cases and allows them to access critical federal public benefits, speeds up work authorization to help survivors escape violence, and limits immigration enforcement at protected areas.
