Hello friends,

Big news this month — we’re NOW OPEN ON MONDAYS and we’ve launched a brand-new online ordering system with Toast!

After 5+ years with Square, we made the switch to Toast to give our customers a better shopping experience (let's hope.) You can now choose to have your food delivered (Monday - Friday), and next month we'll be rolling out a dedicated online catering menu. We had a few stressful days this week transitioning everything over from our old system to our new one, but I'm happy to report we're now (mostly) out of the woods.

TASTEMAKER COLLABORATION 🍊🥃

This month we’re collaborating with longtime friend-of-the-deli Jordan Hughes ( on Instagram) - a cocktail creator and photographer by trade, and sandwich savant on the side. During our brainstorming session, Jordan's Brown Butter Old Fashioned caught our attention and sparked inspiration for his sandwich: The Brown Butter Chicken Cutlet Hoagie featuring a cherry balsamic glaze, orange marmellata vinaigrette, and nutty flakes of Parmigiano Reggiano, all nods to flavors found in his Old Fashioned. Try Jordan's sandwich or cocktail (or both!) with proceeds benefiting the Immigrant and Refuge Community Organization here in Portland.

Our Vegetarian Fried Artichoke Focaccia Sandwich special this month is also delicious. Crispy fried artichokes layered over an artichoke-spinach spread, lightly drizzled with bright Calabrian chili hot sauce, topped with arugula, and served on toasted focaccia. Well done, Abbey!

Also March 19th is St. Joseph’s Day, and Zeppole are back this month! We make ours with a Sicilian twist, incorporating ricotta into the pastry cream with a hint of almond. Each zeppole starts as a baked pâte à choux pastry, filled with ricotta pastry cream, dusted with powdered sugar, and finished with an amarena cherry. In short: the world’s best cream puff (and Elise's favorite filling.)

Our Zeppole di San Giuseppe are available for preorder at the link below, and we'll have a few baked off each day in our pastry case.

Last but not least our rotating Bombolini flavor this month is Lemon Curd. Ellen made a banger of a curd that I highly recommend.
