MCR-T is the musical alias of Julian McCarthy, an artist who navigates the tension between high-energy club sounds and socially conscious expression. Born and raised in Berlin-Zehlendorf with Jamaican-American roots, Julian grew up between contrasting worlds, absorbing the layered identities of the city’s underground.

While he first gained attention under the name MCNZI, known for razor-sharp bars and political urgency, MCR-T emerged as his dancefloor-facing alter ego: bold, charismatic, and unmistakably Berlin. His sound channels a raw hybrid of Miami bass, b***y house, ghettotech, and hard techno—infused with the voice of someone who refuses to be overlooked. “I like to use my voice like a drum machine,” he explains. “It’s rhythm, power, presence.” 🇩🇪
