On April 20th, 2024, my husband and I took a van for a test drive. The goal? Just to browse and maybe dream about converting one into a camper. But as we sat there chatting, we looked at each other and said, “YOLO.” Trading in my Jeep for a giant cargo van felt a little ridiculous—but we did it anyway.

Despite all the reasons not to, we dove headfirst into van life and spent most of 2024 building it out. Since then, it's been our getaway on weekend trips, road trips to Michigan, and even kept us cozy on some chilly ski weekends.

We used to half-joke about selling everything and living in the van, or maybe taking a travel nurse assignment. But the more we joked, the more it started to sound... possible. Life has a funny way of pushing you in unexpected directions, and as 2025 unfolded, we found ourselves at a crossroads. Rather than resist, we chose to embrace the change.

Which brings me to this post—Whimsical Wares Co. will be taking a long break. The "joke" of taking a travel assignment, in the van is now our new reality. While we’re keeping Maine as our home base and will be back often, maintaining my Etsy shop from the road just isn’t feasible (let’s be honest, I’d need an entire van just for my craft supplies!).

I fully intend to return to my business when the time is right, but for now, I’m focusing on soaking up every moment of this adventure and returning more inspired than ever.

Whimsical Wares Co. is officially on pause. However, I’m still available for custom work, earring-making parties, and special requests—just shoot me a message, and I’d be happy to make something happen!

It’s been a while since I’ve been active on Instagram and Facebook… I wanted to hop on to remind you that I also teach classes! I’m teaching tonight at Factory 3, in Portland, and I’m all set up and ready to go. The next class is Tuesday, March 18th. Get your tickets on Factory 3’s website!

I know I have been awfully quiet on social media lately. I wanted to share an update! A few students had mentioned that the earring-making classes were difficult to attend due to the timing and asked if we could have them later in the day.

You asked, and we listened! The monthly Factory 3 Beginner Earring Making Class now begins at 6pm. I understand fitting things into a busy schedule is hard. Hopefully, this later time will make it a bit easier.

The next class is Tomorrow July 16th, 6-8 pm! Tickets are only on sale for a little while longer!

Happy National Bike to Work Day! While my schedule doesn't permit me to join the ride today, biking is something I truly enjoy outside of work. Just recently, my husband and I explored the scenic C & O Tow Path in Maryland. It was a refreshing getaway, filled with inspiration for my art and jewelry. Here's to more adventures on two wheels! 🚲

Excitement is brewing for next Tuesday! I'm bringing back sea glass for my beginner earring-making class. It's always a joy matching each set of sea glass beads and carefully drilling holes to maintain their natural symmetry. Crafting with sea glass, shaped by nature, poses its own challenges, but it's these slight variations that lend a unique charm to every pair of earrings. Join me for a relaxed and creative session!
