I used to think that Portland was not a good place to hear purveyors of USA art forms, as it seemed back when those artists would come to the city, have a look around, and sort of play for the crowd. Now, after years of bearing witness to incredible shows in intimate settings (including bringing through a couple months back) I now feel that Portland is likely one of the best places to see and hear such artists in a setting sized to carry the atmosphere. pt.2 …And , which was an amazing thing to happen upon whilst heading in for a supply reload. There simply isn’t anything else in this world like powwow singing. It seems to be all forms of passion at once. Didn’t focus on getting up to play records at key times the rest of the trip due to fatigue/relentless mosquitoes/dust/high desert dry out getting to me (apologies for that to those I told I’d be making an appearance, in particular and missing the wacky song dance off and a late set there, although I did play Sunday up til right before departing as seen in the final spades, which brought out a curious lizard perplexed by a passed out raver). Did do a quick soundsystem warm up over though, which was timely as hearing the and unreleased dubs on that soundsystem in the video in the sixth or so slide really showed that the mastering on them is good and they have no flabby bits.
