Have you had a chance to work with our Chiropractor, Dr. Shannon, yet?
Dr. Shannon’s interest in health began in high school where she spent a year collecting data on nerve cells at the University of Albany and co-authored a research paper on fetal alcohol syndrome. She set her sights on pursuing a future in the allopathic medical field but made a drastic career change as a junior at Cornell University after shadowing a chiropractor. The field of chiropractic care resonated immediately with her, as it centered on the body’s natural, powerful ability to heal itself and focused on finding the cause of a patient’s condition versus simply treating the symptoms. Dr. Shannon graduated from Cornell and went on to earn a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the University of Western States.
Dr. Shannon provides quality care for patients with all types of pain, from acute to chronic, and patients of all ages. She is certified in a chiropractic technique specifically designed for pregnant patients, the Webster technique, and has advanced certification through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).
Her treatment style is diverse and incorporates a variety of techniques based upon the preferences and needs of her patients; she is skilled in both the high-velocity diversified adjusting style as well as several gentler options, including activator-assisted and drop-table. She focuses a portion of every treatment on muscle work by utilizing a combination of trigger point massage, stretching, guasha, and taping. In addition to in-office treatment, she prescribes personalized at-home rehabilitation exercise programs and regularly educates patients on ergonomics, diet, physical activity, stress and anxiety reduction, and effective sleep habits.
Dr. Shannon works at our Lake Oswego location. Give us a call at (971) 330-8578 to schedule with her.

Have you incorporated Dry brushing into your routine? Dry skin brushing energizes the lymphatic system, which is responsible for draining cellular waste, fats, pathogens and other substances from the body while transporting immune system agents to where they are needed.
The main objective of dry brushing is simply to create some movement and stimulation throughout your body. It's hard to go wrong, but there are a few simple guidelines to keep in mind.
For starters, skin brushing is best done before bathing, with dry skin that is free from lotion or oil. Allow 3-5 minutes to brush your entire body. Then, follow these simple steps:
⭐ Stand in the bathtub/shower or on a towel to avoid getting flaky skin on the floor.
⭐ Using gloves or a natural bristle brush to stimulate the skin and lymph.
Keep the direction of the stroke always toward the heart.
⭐ Use long sweeping strokes on the arms and legs (toward the heart and lymph nodes), and circular strokes on the joints (shoulders, elbows, knees, wrists, hips, and ankles).
⭐ Massage from the feet upward, continuing to the torso and then to the neck.
⭐ Massage from the hands to the shoulders.
⭐ Massage the stomach and buttocks in circular clockwise motions.
⭐ Apply light pressure where the skin is thin or sensitive and firm pressure on thicker areas like the bottoms of the feet.
⭐ Take a cool shower after dry brushing and apply oil or moisturizer to your body.
Give it a try and see what improvements you experience in skin health and energy.
