Everyone is invited to an inter-faith Devotions every Sunday, at 10:30 AM, at the Beaverton Baha'i Center: 5355 SW Murray Blvd.
This week the theme is The Martyrdom of the Bab. The Bab (Arabic for Gate) was a young merchant in Shiraz, Iran in the 1840s. At the time there were large millennial movements in the Shia Islam communities and in North America and Europe. All the movements were focused on the year 1844 when the Bab declared his mission to his first follower. He brought a new revelation from God and founded a new religion. One of His last messages to His followers before being executed July 9th 1850 was that He would be followed very shortly by another messenger of God much greater than Himself. Baha'u'llah (Arabic for Glory of God) was one of His most prominent followers and founded the Baha'i Faith. The Báb was martyred by a firing squad in 1850 when He was only 31 years old, but the event is surrounded by a remarkable and miraculous story. Today, the Martyrdom of the Báb is observed as one of nine Holy Days of the Baha'i Faith.
Coffee & tea will be served after the program. You're welcome to bring a Dessert or snacks to share. No donations are accepted.

Online Interfaith Devotions: Portland
Sun Jul 5 2026, 10:30am - 11:30am
If you wish the joy, happiness and the composure of the spirit and the peace of the conscience. . . , strengthen the bonds of union and harmony amongst yourselves so that all of you may become the waves of one sea, the drops of one river, the flowers of one garden, the links of one cuirass, soaring in the atmosphere and breaking forth into one glad song. `Abdu’l-Bahá, Bahá’í Faith
Dear Friends,
Summer is here, and with it comes so many wonderful opportunities! It’s the perfect time to reconnect with friends and family, soak up the sunshine, and enjoy outdoor activities like baseball games, such as the Portland Pickles! What makes these experiences truly fulfilling? On Sunday, we’ll dive into the concept of happiness. Is spiritual happiness distinct or superior to other forms? What does spiritual happiness entail? Join us on Zoom as we explore sacred writings on the subject, share prayers, and enjoy uplifting music to lift our spirits. The Zoom link is provided below. Please log on early to connect with others, chat, and settle in before our slide presentation program kicks off at 10:30 a.m.
Sincerely, your host,
Karen 🔆
