As temperatures rise in Portland, it’s important to help our four-legged companions stay safe and comfortable.
Here are a few simple warm-weather reminders:

If the sidewalk feels too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws. Consider walks during the cooler morning or evening hours.
💧 Keep Fresh Water Available
Hydration is essential during warmer days. Bring water along for outdoor adventures and refresh water bowls often.
🌳 Seek Shade When Outdoors
Whether relaxing at a park or enjoying time outside, make sure pets have access to shaded areas.
🚗 Never Leave Pets in a Parked Vehicle
Temperatures inside vehicles can rise quickly, even with windows cracked.
🐕 Watch for Signs of Overheating
Excessive panting, lethargy, drooling, or difficulty walking may indicate heat stress. Contact a veterinarian if you notice concerning symptoms.
