Right now, the public lands we love most are at risk.

From national forests to wildlife refuges, the places where we fish, camp and hike could be lost to us forever.

For generations, Pacific lamprey have been a First Food for Tribal Nations of the Columbia River Basin—central to culture, nutrition and an indicator of river health. Today, protecting lamprey and other important species such as salmon means reconnecting and restoring rivers.

Across the basin, Tribes are leading efforts to improve habitat and passage, helping sustain both this ancient species and the traditions tied to it. In honor of Pacific Lamprey Week, explore the story: https://nature.ly/4vejhQF
