Carbon monoxide (CO) is a highly poisonous gas. Dangerous concentrations of CO can quickly build when fuel-burning devices are used without proper ventilation. Since CO is invisible, it is important to protect yourself and loved ones with working CO monitors.

Everyone deserves to experience safe and clean air. CEP provides free CO monitors to income-qualified residents. Email [email protected] if you are interested in receiving a free CO detector for your home.

Ahead of the curve; planning for heat, climate impacts 05/19/2026

Hotter temperatures are becoming more frequent and dangerous, along with risks from wildfire smoke and other climate impacts. It’s important to prepare your home for extreme heat, especially if your household includes older adults, people with health conditions, and is lacking reliable access to cooling. Hydration, cooling strategies, emergency planning, and access to safe indoor environments all play a key role in staying safe.

CEP delivers home energy upgrades including heat pumps which provide heating AND cooling to ensure households remain comfortable year-round. Along with direct services, CEP also offers Summer Cooling & Winter Weatherization workshops that teach both homeowners and renters how to stay safe, maintain healthy indoor environments, and lower utility bills. Income-qualified participants may also receive a free kit of supplies that can be implemented in any type of home. These resources all make a meaningful difference as temperatures rise and climate risks increase.
