Creating a Culture of Safety Cascade Pacific Council Scout Executive Gary Carroll on why it is important that we create a safety culture in Scouting.

This message is a reminder about Cub Scout Lock-in coming up next Saturday, February 29, 2020.

The event takes place at the Mid-Willamette YMCA located at 3201 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany, OR, 97321. The doors will be opening at 6:30 p.m. with the program starting at 7:00 p.m. Please do not arrive early and expect to get in since we will still be setting the event up at that time. There will be two lines – one for those who pre-registered and another for those who were unable to do so. Cash, check, and credit/debit cards will be accepted.

There will be lots of different activities for the scouts Saturday evening and includes a rotation in the swimming pool, which includes a fun slide. Be sure your scout brings their swimming suit, a towel, and any other items personal items that are needed after swimming. Adults can get in the pool also. Participants might want to have their suits on under their clothes to help save time when they get to the swimming rotation. It is also advisable to have swim gear in a separate bag from the sleeping gear. Due to BSA Youth Protection Policies, adults will not be allowed in locker rooms with the youth with the exception of the Family changing areas.

Since the scouts will be sleeping on a gym floor, please bring a sleeping pad or air mattress, sleeping bag, and whatever your scout wants to sleep in. There will be a place to store the gear during the activities. There is no need to bring a flashlight or lantern, but glowsticks are acceptable if your child feels they need one.

While not previously mentioned, there is an age restriction on the BB guns. Scouts must be 6 years of age to participate in that event. For those younger than 6, there will still be archery and slingshots. The shooting ranges, along with other activities will be in an unheated warehouse. Please bring coats and layer clothing to stay warm.

Although a snack will be provided, and we are doing our best to accommodate everyone’s dietary restrictions, we highly recommend that you eat a full meal before arriving.

Last item if you bring 3 non-perishable food items for the local food banks you will receive a small treasure.
