The recent trip to the Cascades proved to be incredibly fruitful for fall color and then fresh snow. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate for our bouldering. This was on the way to our secluded climbing spot on the only day we could get on the rocks.

A very small part of the Cygnus Loop, the remnants of a supernova that occurred approximately 10,000 years ago. This portion is known as the Western Veil Nebula (NGC 6960).

This supernova is roughly 1400 light years away from us and this portion is about 35 light years long. If you look at the image with stars you'll notice more background stars in the lower right corner. There is an endless amount of dust and gas floating around the universe but this supernova shockwave has cleared this dust, giving us the ability to see even deeper into space.

This is a collection of almost 5 hours worth of data in narrowband Ha and Oiii spectrums.
