Happy Friday, friends! We're here at today with a few more bottles of cider, wine, whiskey and brandy for you, but I also thought you might appreciate this: quite possibly the very last bottle of Sparkling Cranberry Apple Wine from many vintages ago. I'm sure this bottle moved house with me in 2018 and again in 2022, but 2025 was the year it finally was drunk with a Thanksgiving feast. The bright red color had darkened, and the wine threw some sediment, but had plenty of bubbles left throughout the evening. Sharp cranberry flavor really mellowed with time, and was much dryer than I remembered. Thanks for joining me on a fun little trip to the cellar!

Aromatic Cocktail Bitters—How It’s Made
We make three kinds—Blueberry, Cranberry, and Elderberry—each packed with Maine fruit and layered with a mix of herbs and spices for rich aromatics. Then, we let time do the rest, aging them for years before bottling. And the label? That’s Norbert P. Sweetgrass. Our daughter caught him at the Union Fair pig scramble, and let’s just say… he had a good run. We honored him the best way we know how—with plenty of BBQ and bitters, of course. Bitters aren’t just for cocktails (though they sure do wonders there). A few drops can take your BBQ sauce, fruit crisp, or even a simple Old Fashioned to the next level. Apple Brandy—How It’s Made
We start with apples grown right here in mid-coast Maine—fermented into wine, then distilled not once, but twice in our still. From there, it goes into oak barrels, where time works its magic for 2 to 4 years. The result? A smooth, rich brandy with deep apple character. It’s like 40 apples in every bottle. Boy, did you guys keep me busy this afternoon! I've treated myself to a nice evening out after work featuring Pai Men Miyake 's fabulous Shiso Lucky cocktail, ramen and nikuman (please disregard the half eaten bun by the time I snapped a picture). What a delicious dinner for me!
