The first thing people have noticed about the upcoming album cover is that I’m smiling.

Indeed, this is the first album cover (of 14 solo albums) where I’m smiling into the camera. I think that’s because Temple Songs marks something I’ve been working toward for years: recovering my artistic authority. I made this record in my home studio, following instinct instead of perfection. It reminded me that making records can feel joyful.

On Monday we will release the second single for my upcoming album. The song is called “Pulse” and there’s a music video accompanying it. I call the video style “Dada Workout Video” or “Surrealist Jane Fonda.” Excited to share with you soon! Here are some behind-the-scenes clips from the filming. Lifting those heavy weights was hard work but I’ve been lifting for a few years now so I’m getting used to it. Thanks to Thomas and Greta for loaning us the equipment.
