Meet our second speaker!

It is our pleasure to introduce UNE's Greg J. Kapinos. Greg brings over four decades of frontline and leadership experience in emergency preparedness, disaster response, and public health. He is recently retired from the Maine Department of Transportation as a Safety Specialists and, is currently a member of the federal Administration of Strategic Preparedness and Response Incident Management Team, where he has been deployed to major disasters and national security events across the country.

Greg holds dual master’s degrees in Public Health and Disaster Management, and he teaches graduate-level courses in emergency and disaster preparedness and pandemic preparedness at the University of New England. His career spans leadership roles as Chief of York County’s Hazardous Materials Team, health physics specialist for the nuclear industry and a paramedic. With certifications from the U.S. Fire Academy and national recognition as a Certified Emergency Manager, Greg has trained elected officials, responders, and organizations in the Incident Command System. He has also contributed to radiological protection, OSHA compliance, and large-scale resource coordination.
