I can’t wait for the day when I can laugh and play with my girlfriends and drink wine at the bar and eat too much popcorn and stay out late and wander the Portland streets in a haze of joy and pleasure and wake up in the morning feeling like the headache was totally worth it and texting with my friends and laughing about all the ridiculous fun we had. How about you? What do you miss?

Last week I was on the couch with a concussion from a totally freak accident (a golden retriever slammed into me from behind at the park, and knocked me to the ground so hard I might have peed a little 🤫).

As a result, I had plenty of time to watch TV. Lots of TV.

Since I prefer shows with strong female leads, I thought I'd share with you my favorite feminist shows and movies with leading women and inspiring stories about women. ➡️➡️➡️LINK IN BIO

Thinking critically about what people tell you is a powerful tool that will serve you well as a strong, brave womxn playing big in the world.⠀

So is following your intuition. ⠀

One of the ways to think more critically is to notice when you’re making huge assumptions, trusting hearsay or maybe buying into an old story or belief that is not grounded in evidence or truth…⠀

After all it’s very important to learn the facts, look for the evidence, do the research yourself, validate your sources and be skeptical of hearsay. ⠀

It’s also important to challenge your own stories and belief systems. Are you making assumptions? Are you telling yourself a story or just looking to confirm your own bias or set of beliefs? ⠀

In my experience, as I start to ask these questions the task then evolves into discerning what is an intuition and what is an assumption? ⠀

Is this a divine and wise knowing that runs deeper than facts OR is it a “story” you’re telling yourself to confirm your own biases?⠀

Is it an intuition or an assumption?⠀

I can tell the difference by noticing it my body on a physical level…what is the vibration of it? What is the resonance? The frequency? Is it truth or is it just serving to justify old habits and potentially destructive behaviors? ⠀

Thinking critically AND being deeply empathic and intuitive are skills you can learn to balance. Discernment is key. ⠀

Are you paying attention to how you well you think critically and use your intuition? Where and how might you improve these skills in your own life?
