TUNA RECALL:
Botulism in tuna
Canned tuna sold at Trader Joe’s, Costco, and H-E-B is recalled for risk of botulism—a potentially fatal form of food poisoning in which a toxin caused by bacteria attacks the body’s nerves. This recall is due to a defect in the “easy open” pull, allowing bacteria to enter. No direct human cases are connected to this yet, but FDA suggests throwing these out in an abundance of caution.
Products were sold under the Genova®, Van Camp’s®, H-E-B, and Trader Joe’s brand names across the U.S.

I'm sharing some practical advice on prevention of the coronavirus as was recently shared with me. I share this because it included a few extra suggestions beyond those I have most commonly seen:
We've all heard the basics, hand-washing and keeping your hands away from your face is especially important right now. Also, if you have a dishwasher, USE IT and run dishes on HOT. If you are hand washing be sure you use scalding hot water disinfect your dishes. A lukewarm rinse and mild soap might not due the trick. This virus "may remain viable for hours to days." Disinfect high touch surfaces with EPA registered disinfectants or products that contain AT LEAST 70% ALCOHOL. Read your labels, not all disinfectants can kill COVID19. Wash your clothes after one wear, as the virus does seem to hang around.
Some of the most important advice from people at the CDC:
The tricky thing about this virus is that by the time you have a fever and a cough fibrosis may have taken hold in your lungs which is what makes this virus so dangerous. Taiwan experts recommend this simple self-check we can do every morning:
Take a deep breath and hold your breath for more than 10 seconds. If you can complete this without coughing, discomfort, stuffiness or tightness than yeah, no indication of infection!
Also common sense, given this virus attacks the lungs - don't smoke, or worse, share smoking devices! Va**rs and smokers beware, especially given new vape-related illnesses, give your lungs a chance, keep them clean and healthy!
Also, excellent advice from Japanese doctors treating COVID-19 cases:
Ensure your mouth and throat is moist, NEVER dry. Keep your favorite lozenges on hand. Take a few sips of water every 15 mins or so, thus even if the virus does end up in your throat, this will wash it down to your stomach where your stomach acid will KILL that sucker! Not drinking may allow it to take hold in your windpipe or lungs.
Be smart, be clean, boost your immune system in your favorite ways - some options include tumeric, ginger, lysine, vit-C, garlic, echinacea - sweat followed by lots of water and tea. Breath lots of fresh air - movement, lots of fluids and fresh air keep our systems moving which gives the virus less time to take hold.
Advice from many sources - shared with love!
