Applications for Fall 2022 are open for the MFA in Collaborative Design and MA in Design Systems at Pacific Northwest College of Art!

With a focus on trans-disciplinary collaboration, these two innovative programs reimagine what design can do in the world, producing creative and ethical leaders who will drive positive impact in private, public and non-profit sectors.

We believe that socially-minded, environmentally sensitive designers foster a more humane world that can meaningfully address the emerging challenges of the 21st century including climate change, racial injustice, poverty and healthcare.

MFA Collaborative Design + MA Design Systems student project Bee & Bee PDX chosen as finalist for Fast Company's World Changing Ideas Awards 2021! Led by faculty member Skye Moret, students in the CD/DS program collaborated with Ivy Chuang, founder of Blendily, to create a honeybee habitat that would both be beneficial for the bees who make the hive their home and also benefit Blendily by supporting pollination of their botanical garden and production of honey to harvest for their organic skincare products. The students engaged in extensive research, ideation, prototyping, testing and ultimately building the working bee habitat. Through collaboration and time spent learning about real beekeeping in the field, the students produced an impressive habitat that considers the needs and experience of both the client and our ecosystem. A huge congratulations to our students, Humaira Tasneem, SJ Bowden, Sam Caruthers-Knight, Jake Crahan, and Jono Melamed on their winning design! meets.skye .yone
