WHAT IS THREADING (FACE)?
an ancient form of hair removal, using a blend of cotton thread. a twisting motion is used to pull the hair out completely by the root. just a string of cotton blend thread, with a pinch of sorcery. it is less painful and great for people with sensitive skin, or non candidates for sugaring or waxing. this is suitable for nearly everyone with nominal risk of reactions.
anecdote:
i was threaded by my grandmother as a child, back in China (before it made its way to the west side), and didn't think anything of it. ironically, now, i am the one performing this service.
A is for A-game, by the name of Vitamin A!

Retinoids, aka Vitamin A and its derivatives, are the HOLY GRAIL in the skin league. How so? Prepared to be impressed.
Sun protection:
UVR triggers enzymes that degrade collagen. Retinoids stop them.
Aging:
Retinoids stimulate fibroblasts to produce collagen.
Pigmentation:
helps lift the melanin away.
Genesis:
stimulates cell growth, turnover. Strengthens skin, promotes skin's natural moisture factor (hyaluronic acid. Keeps our skin hydrated). Improves skin’s sallowness (yellow complexion) via vascularization. Also plays a role in gene expression.
Acne:
reduces sebum production, clears out follicles, increases desquamation (shedding of skin cells) and inhibits inflammation.
Beta-Carotene (pro vitamin a):
found in veggies such as carrots, sweet potatoes and leafy greens. This type of vitamin a is suitable for everyone, even preggo mamas, no side effects or irritation. This is converted by the liver to vitamin a.
Retinal esters (retinyl palmitate/acetate):
these are stable forms and less irritating to the skin but also less effective. It is stored in the liver for future use. They can be found in drugstore products commonly. Results are not amazing.
Retinol:
the alcohol version of Retinoic Acid (RA) a very stable form. This version is also much more tolerable than RA. This is the “goldilocks” retinoid.
Retinal:
the aldehyde version of RA. Stable form with less irritancy, however mild results.
RA (tretinoin, isotretinoin, adapalene):
the BOMB. this form targets our receptors directly. Once retinoids are converted to this form, there is no turning back. (kind of like how the sugar gets on the hair. It has to come off). Hence why it is extremely effective and potent.
