The Basil Doerhoefer House, located on West Broadway in Louisville, Kentucky was built in 1902. The house was built for Basil Doerhoefer, a wealthy to***co merchant and the powerhouse real estate developer who shaped much of Louisville's West End.
This gorgeous Colonial Revival home was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It was sold in 1925 to Loretto High School. Today this historic mansion is owned by Christ Temple Apostolic Church.

Built for German born confectioner William Westerfeld the 28 room mansion was designed by Henry Geilfuss. The home also known as the "Russian Embassy" due to its past ownership by a group of Czarist Russians.

James J. Gaffney House is located on Highland Ave in the Original Highlands neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. Built 1898. Gaffney was a prominent Louisville architect. His most well known building is the Waverly Hills Tuberculosis Sanatorium, considered to be one of the most haunted places in the country.
The house's architectural style is highly eclectic Queen Anne with Flemish and Gothic influences.
The façade is famous for its symmetric, prominent round turrets flanked on either side, topped with conical roofs featuring distinctive fish-scale shingles.: A highly ornate, stepped central dormer gable sits between the steeples, featuring intricate classical relief elements and scrolls. Built with deep red brick, the home has a prominent elevated stone staircase leading to a heavy wood entry door sheltered by an ornamental classical portico supported by columns.

This is the first home built in the Chicago north shore suburb of Kenilworth! Designed by architect Franklin Burnham in 1891 (!) for William H. H. Sears, it predates the Tudor Revival movement but, being ahead of its time, hints at the English country-house aesthetic that was to become super popular decades later. This home's monumental limestone chimney, rusticated stone façade, arched entry, and distinctive oval window are not later additions-they're original features that made this house somewhat revolutionary in the early 1890s.
