Dinner & A Movie

The people we are seeing out on the streets these days are getting younger and younger. When we first started our outreach forward model, we saw a lot of older homeless people. But since the start of 2024, I think the average age dropped about 15 years. A lot of them are covid kids that left home during the lock downs because they were sick of day drinking parents beating them up or getting ideas (You know)... Our new Downtown route is particularly young, with many looking like high school sophomores. Its rough. Pray that we can find ways to make a difference in their lives while there's still hope for brighter futures.

This week at Dinner and a Movie!

Day 1. We facilitated a clean up with Solve Oregon. Making the streets clean and safe is very important to us. We clean up dirty needles, smoking tins and other hazardous materials while keeping Solve workers and volunteers safe. And providing services to the homeless in the area. Always a full day's work.

Day 2. Early Saturday morning board meeting. (It isn't always fun and games).

Day 3. We were able to finally get one of our friends off the streets and in to the Helping Hands Transitional Housing at Bybee Lakes. We called every morning for days hoping space would open up. Finally it did, and we were able to get a nice old guy indoors and on his way to permanent housing. It was amazing!

Day 4. We had our Easter celebration at our family feeding on Tuesday night. It's back! Dinner and a Movie is once again serving Dinner and showing a Movie! Kids were excited. They staged their own egg hunts. The parents were able to relax. It was just cool.

Day 5: Well... the week isn't over yet. But man has it been eventful. We are off to work and we'll see what adventures come our way. I think I need some coffee.
