In what was once an empty field, The Ackerly at Reed’s Crossing is catalyzing the growth of a new neighborhood.

Offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care, this community is designed to provide residents with opportunities to connect with each other and their neighborhood.

Residents and their families can gather in places shared with their neighbors, like the bocce ball court, walking paths, meditation labyrinth, and outdoor eating areas.

The site is also connected to the Reed’s Crossing Wellness Center by a pedestrian path.

We’re proud to be one of 2% of architecture firms in the U.S. that have signed onto the AIA 2030 Commitment.

We believe that making a public commitment to reach net zero emissions for all new buildings and major renovations by 2030 is a necessary step towards curbing climate change and creating a more resilient built environment.

Since we joined the commitment in 2015, we have reported on over 20.6 million sq. ft. of buildings!

With 2030 fast approaching, we are going to share what actions we’re taking to help us live up to the pledge.

A layered base with contrasting light and dark brick masonry, paired with metal panels under exterior windows, cloaks Waterleaf with an impression of movement.

The unique frontage is influenced and shaped by a streetcar track that runs directly outside the building.

The structure’s curved façade plays up the sense of motion coming from the streetcar track on the curved corner, making for both a pleasant visual and a unique retail entrance.

A modern high-rise with historic charm.

Part of the emerging market of rental properties for seniors, the Holden of Pearl is a high-end senior community at the doorstep of Portland’s vibrant and historic Pearl District.

While evoking a historical feel, the building meets modern energy goals. High performance exterior walls feature brick installed on a thermally broken rain-screen system.

The building also includes environmentally-friendly green roof, high-depth plantings on nearly every elevated level, and bird-safe glazing.

The recently opened Aegis Laurelhurst offers a vibrant senior community with old-world charm in Seattle’s University District.

The architecture and interior design of the project both reference the historic collegiate gothic style found at the nearby University of Washington.

It was important for our design team to pay homage to this unique identity to attract prospective residents, many of whom will have fond memories from their own college days on the campus.
