Fuel Cafe, Portland Oregon

Today is the last day for FUEL CAFE. It’s been a good ride until COVID changed so much, so quickly. The struggle with the labor pool, all the increased costs and the decline in business (this summer saw a sharp decline in tourism) has made it clear that the risk outweighs the reward.

We are grateful for all of the loyal support, for the people near and far who visited while in town and for the local community. As two kids who were raised in North & Northeast Portland it was an honor to serve you!

Yes, please! I’m in Denver and the surrounding areas preparing for a backpacking trip and it is clean, no tents, no graffiti everywhere and it feels calm here. In Portland and the surrounding areas it looks and feels like CHAOS. Stop the chaos, it’s making Portland and the state of Oregon look like a 3rd world country where no one cares! Get the people off the streets and help them return to the communities where they came from in a better state of being then when they arrived here. They came here to take advantage of our (failed) drug laws which also needs to be reversed.

Tomorrow, highway workers will close a five-mile stretch of I-84 to clean up illegal dumping and graffiti. How did we let things get to this point?

As mayor, I’ll prioritize graffiti, illegal dumping, and other quality-of-life issues our failed leadership has ignored for years. I’ll start by cost-effectively sheltering our unhoused neighbors, and shift city resources to restore, repair, and revitalize our city.
