It's a great day to revisit Amar Chebib's moving documentary, "The Runner." The film follows Darius Sam, an Indigenous 19-year-old living in British Columbia as he attempts to run 100 miles at once in subzero temperatures to raise awareness for addiction and mental health issues in his community. Kumari: A Father's Dream | A Story Gorge Film 11/04/2022

KUMARI: A Father’s Dream is the latest documentary from the team at Story Gorge.

The film follows a group of childhood friends in rural Nepal as they channel their resources and energy into fulfilling Jagat Lama's promise to his dying father; to bring medical care to their home of Kumari.

The film premiers today at Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival and will be a part of the BANFF World Tour, with screenings in over 40 countries and will be translated to up to 14 languages.

The Runner: A New Documentary from Amar Chebib - Journal 10/10/2022

Amar Chebib’s captivating new documentary, The Runner, follows Darius Sam, an Indigenous 19-year-old living in British Columbia.

After losing a family member to addiction, Darius resolved to run 100 miles at once, to raise awareness for addiction and mental health issues in his community.

The documentary, released through The New Yorker on Indigenous People’s Day today, follows Darius’s monumental journey and personal transformation as he attempts this seemingly impossible task.
