Today is April Fools Day... instead of pulling the wool over your eyes, we've got some mischievous baking ideas that are sure to trick and delight your friends:

"Savory" Cupcakes: Surprise your friends and family with cupcakes that look sweet but taste savory! Try filling cornbread cupcakes with mashed potato "frosting" or topping chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese "sauce" and grated cheese "sprinkles." They'll do a double-take with every bite!

Vegetable "Cake": Who says cakes have to be sweet? Create a cake that looks like a classic layer cake but is actually made from layers of sliced vegetables like zucchini, carrot, and eggplant. Top it off with mashed potato "frosting" and watch as everyone's eyes widen in disbelief.

"Faux" Cookies: Bake up a batch of cookies that look like the real deal but are actually made from savory ingredients like cheese and herbs. Shape them like chocolate chip cookies and watch as your friends take a bite expecting sweetness, only to be met with a delicious savory surprise.
