Oregon childhood vaccination rates fall to record low as exemptions reach new high 06/05/2026

⚠️ New data shows childhood vaccination rates in our state have fallen to a record low, while nonmedical exemptions have reached a record high of 10.9%.

Last week, KATU News interviewed OPS Board member Dr. Alanna Braun, pediatrician at OHSU, who shared what concerns her most: "A lot of kids have infant siblings at home who are not able to be vaccinated. There are kids in all of these schools who are unable to be vaccinated, kids who are undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. There are teachers who are immunocompromised for various reasons."

Healthy children build healthy communities. Whether you're a parent, grandparent, pediatric healthcare provider, or community member, we all play a role in keeping kids healthy. Vaccination protects everyone.
